Feature-length factual drama about Jane Andrews, royal dresser to The Duchess of York, and her murder conviction. Researching the ‘props’ in this ‘Real Crimes’ special was more poignant and revealing than I had predicted. I tracked down many actual objects for the reconstruction. Sometimes it became spooky, Tom Cressman’s actual car being an example, and it brought home to me the real/journalistic elements of this production. We were all pleased with the high production value we achieved on little more than a documentary budget, particularly designs and reconstructions of domestic and Palace locations. The search for authenticity uncovered certain things related to the case which were not previously known.
